Het Anker Brewery is a Flemish brewery in Mechelen founded in 1471 which over here was during the reign of Edward IV, at which time England had particularly strong trading and cultural links with Belgium. The brewery was renamed Het Anker ("The Anchor") in 1901 and began producing "Emperor beer" after World War II. renamed "Gouden Carolus" after Charles V in the 1960s. Matured at length in both the cellar and the bottle this is brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and has a pleasant clodiness from the bottle conditioning. To properly savour the Golden Carolus Tripel leave the yeast in the bottle and don't serve too cold. A lovely and different taste to normal tripels and rightful winner of a Gold Award in the World Beer Cup. Gouden Carolus Tripel won a Gold Medal at the World Beer Awards 2016 in the category Belgium - Belgian Style Tripel.
